Qualification Course Information:

This course is for you if you have interest in creative activities involving art, design and media. You will do traditional drawing, painting, modelling, and also make digital art using Photoshop, Illustrator, and interactive media software. Additionally, you will produce video projects and photographic work.

Requirements: Minimum Entry Level 3 English and Maths (successful completion of speaking listening, reading and writing or internal assessment). No previous qualifications are required for this course. But we are looking for enthusiastic students who are prepared to try their hand at a range of activities with a ‘can do’ attitude. We interview all students and require all interviewees to show evidence of artistic ability. Interviewees who have not studied Art & Design before will be required to complete a drawing task.

All Art & Design students are required to maintain a basic Art Kit of essential materials, and to bring these materials to each class.

The Art Kit should include:

  • A range of pencils
  • Ruler
  • Rubber
  • Scissors
  • Glue / Pritt Stick
  • A3 Sketchbook
  • A3 Wallet
Assessment Method: Students performance is graded via a combination of practical and written coursework.

 

Course units are assessed throughout the year, building towards a final project which brings together the various skills you have learned. Each unit addresses a different area of Art, Design & Media and all units must be passed to successfully pass the course.

Work is assessed and internally verified, and feedback is provided both in writing and verbally. Final grades are agreed by a UAL external moderator.

This course is for you if you are planning a career in IT, Art & Design or Media.

As well as introducing the employment areas of IT, Art & Media, this course will also develop the learning skills you need to be successful at level 1 and beyond.

Requirements: This programme is designed for students with no qualification and would like to be given an opportunity to achieve a E3 qualification.

Foundation Learning Diploma at Entry Level 2 or straight from school.

Interview and BKSB assessment at E2 for English and Maths.

Applicants will either show evidence of previously completed art and design work, or will be required to satisfactorily complete a drawing task prior to enrolment.

Assessment Method: The majority of the course is assessed through coursework, a mixture of in class assignment projects and presentations with only the Functional Skills Mathematics and English being assessed through a controlled exam.

Progression Opportunities:

  • Learners who complete this course go on to Level 1 Diploma in IT, or a Level 1 Diploma in Art, Design & Media.
  • Progression to other subjects is also possible at this level. Each campus offers their own variety of subjects at Level 1.
  • Successful completion of this qualification can lead to study Level 4 AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting or to higher education

Qualification Course Information:

A UAL L2 Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology is a one year work-related course. You learn by completing practical projects that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands, as well as completing some theory-based units. This course is designed to provide you with an introduction to both the creative and technical aspects of creative media production and to develop the required skills, knowledge and understanding to progress to further education and employment within the creative industries.
